I would love to hear from family and friends (and strangers). Above are the ways to keep in touch with me…also care packages are always welcome! Mail service between the United States and Fiji is fairly reliable. Airmail letters from home usually take four weeks to arrive in Fiji and four to six weeks to arrive in the United States from Fiji. Surface mail may take months. Facebook and email are also great options to send your hellos, though I can’t make any promises on my ability to reply promptly,so be patient if you say hi and I don’t reply for a couple days/weeks.

  1. any suggestions on how much to send in one package? Is it better to divide between two packages due to customs fees or possible loss of some contents? Any thoughts?

    • If it fits in a padded envelope that tends to be cheaper to ship and cheaper at customs. Putting “Contains religious materials” or “God is watching” (tape a prayer card to it too), on the box may make them less likely to rummage through the package at customs. It really only cost me $500 to $1000 Guyanese to get a package which is $2 to $5 American. Also placing expensive items in others boxes like a tampon box, or tissues box half empty with tissues on top may keep them from taking the good stuff. Also take stuff like electronics out of the box, so it doesn’t look brand new. It is good too to put a list on the inside flap or a sheet in the box so I can make sure I get all its contents.
